On a recent Friday, TCS hosted four visitors from a special school in Hong Kong, along with Atlanta’s own Emily Rubin, a good friend to TCS. Emily is a well regarded Speech Language Pathologist who provides a lot of training to school systems (in Georgia, nationally, and internationally) in the SCERTS Model, a model of teaching and communication that is highly compatible with our own DIR Model. The Hong Kong visitors work at a program called Haven of Hope Sunnyside School (to view their page you can use Google to translate), and they are learning how to implement social-emotionally oriented curricula for their students. Over the course of a two hour visit, they observed three different sessions of our participants and talked with one of our participants in depth about his journey learning through his passions. We hope to hear more about their program in the future!
