Exploring the Fernbank Science Center

At TCS every participant is a part of an Independence group that works towards greater self-advocacy and self-sufficiency.  Many of these groups explore and develop their interests by exploring our local community.

Recently, one of TCS’s Independence classes went to visit the Fernbank Science Center! If you have never been there, this place is AMAZING and it has free admission! In addition IMG_5226to showing the types of prehistoric animals and dinosaurs that used to live in the Atlanta area, you can see pictures of the sun taken from the Hubble (and then rendered to look like famous works of art- see the Warhol one below!), observe a live bee colony, and see lots of other live animals including frogs, snakes, and turtles! The group had a great time here and is hoping to plan a trip to the planetarium there in the near future too!

If you’re interested in careers related to science, dinosaurs or space, you may want to take a visit as well!
